Back-to-School Smiles:
Dental Tips for Parents and Kids

As summer comes to an end and the new school year approaches, it’s essential to prioritize your family’s dental health. Here are some tips to ensure your children start the school year with healthy smiles:

Schedule a Dental Check-up

Before the school year begins, schedule a dental check-up for your children to ensure their teeth and gums are in good condition.  Addressing any dental issues early can prevent them from causing discomfort or interfering with school activities.

Establish a Dental Routine

Encourage your children to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes each time and floss once daily.  Set a consistent schedule for oral hygiene to establish good habits that will last throughout the school year.

Pack Healthy Lunches

Pack nutritious lunches and snacks for your children that promote good oral health, such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, and water.  Avoid sugary snacks and beverages that can contribute to tooth decay.

Provide Protective Gear

If your children participate in sports or other physical activities, make sure they wear a mouthguard to protect their teeth from injury. Custom-fitted mouth-guards offer the best protection and comfort.

Educate Your Children

Teach your children about the importance of oral hygiene and how to take care of their teeth and gums properly.  Encourage them to ask questions and be proactive about their dental health.

By following these tips, athletes can protect their smiles and maintain optimal oral health while pursuing their athletic goals.
